When we moved to White Lodge Farm in 2015 we discovered that we were lucky enough to share our home with a pair of Barn Owls. One of the first things we did was to install a nesting box supplied by the barnowltrust.org.uk we followed this with another two boxes. The owls produce 5-6 eggs each year and their success rate in rearing the owlets has improved with every year. For the last three years they have successfully reared all the eggs to fledging. We think that this is due to the increase in the field vole population that we have encouraged through our management of the rough grassland.
