The UK has seen a dramatic decline in the number of pollinators which is almost certainly due to the agricultural use of pesticides. We had started keeping bees some years before we moved to White Lodge Farm and so it was natural for us have some beehives sited within our orchard. We are currently taking a minimalist approach to harvesting the honey but over the coming years we expect to have sufficient for ourselves and some spare to offer our holiday cottage guests.
